Clubmark
Ombersley C.C. has been awarded the prestigious Clubmark accreditation since 2004 and was one of the first clubs in Worcestershire to be accredited. The Clubmark accreditation demonstrates that we have best practices in place to develop and deliver high-quality community cricket in a safe, effective, and child-friendly way.

Cricket
We provide coaching and competitive matches for over 140 children of all cricketing abilities between the ages of 5 and 18.

Cricket is a wonderful team sport. Our aim is to ensure that cricket is fun and rewarding and each child is encouraged to develop their skills at their own pace to achieve the highest standard they can. Very importantly, the social interaction that the children experience in a club environment with their peers is a huge part of the rewarding experience.

County Nominations

Each year, several players from our junior ranks are selected for their age group County Squads and an exceptional few have in the past gone on to represent the Midlands (made up of the best players from 7 counties) and we are very proud to have even had home-grown Club juniors going on to represent England U16s, England U19s and England 'A'.

Juniors Playing in Open Age Cricket
An important element of our philosophy and aims is to produce as many junior players as possible who will want to continue playing cricket and will progress through to our senior/open age teams. This starts with us giving junior players the opportunity from the age of U13 (or in some cases U12, if part of an U12 County squad) to become involved in open age cricket with the Saturday or Sunday teams. In particular, the Saturday 3rd XI and the Sunday XI are run with a large emphasis on the development of our junior players in a safe and competitive environment under the guidance and support of older players.

Our experience tells us that the sooner young players are introduced to open-age cricket, where they play cricket with adult players, the quicker they develop. We actively promote youth through all of our weekend teams as we strive to develop 1st team players of the future. We strongly encourage all children playing in age group squads from U13 upwards to make themselves available to play open-age cricket when the opportunity arises.

A copy of the Club's Policy on Junior Players in Open Age Cricket can be found under the ‘Information’ tab, under ‘Documents’.

Volunteering
Our Junior Section is run by a very committed but small team of volunteer committee members, coaches and managers. We are actively seeking more volunteers to help us deliver our junior cricket programme for the forthcoming season and beyond.

If you can offer support in any capacity (e.g. administrative, coaching support, scoring, organising, social events, firing up the barbie on a Friday night!) and would like to get involved, please let Kevin or Chet know. Contact details above.
